Place a tissue or handkerchief flat underneath your eyes if you're getting teary-eyed or if your face gets wet. This will prevent your mascara from running down your face.

Blot your eyelashes with a handkerchief before your mascara runs any further. Tissue doesn't work as well for this because lint can fall off of the tissue and mess up your makeup.

If your mascara has already begun to run, clean it off your face with a handkerchief dipped in water. Saliva will do in a pinch if you don't have access to water.

Freshen up your eye area with an application of compact powder, taking care to press the powder directly under your lower lash line.
