1
Separate your hair into four sections with the end of your rat tail comb. Hold the hair that you're not working on out of the way with hair clips.
-
2
Begin at the nape of your neck, starting with a section of hair about one to two inches wide.
-
-
3
Place the roller at the end of the hair and underneath it. Roll it under, keeping a steady tension on the hair as you roll so that it stays smooth.
-
4
Roll the roller all the way to your scalp, affixing it with the attached closure if there is one or using flat hair clips or hair pins to hold it in place.
-
5
Repeat steps three and four for one to two inch sections of hair all over your head. It's easier to begin at the back of your hair and work your way to the front.
-
6
Roll the hair overhand if you want it to flip up and out. You can also roll it sideways for another curl direction.

Tips & Warnings
You can roll hair with different types of rollers: sponge, magnetic, or bristle. You can also use heated rollers, but the technique for all of them is the same.
If you want tight curls, use smaller diameter rollers. If you want big, bouncy curls, use bigger rollers.
