Many people suffer from cellulite, which is essentially a build up of toxins in the body. It is a common error that cellulite is a fat, but in reality, many people have cellulite, not only those who are overweight. Massage is a healing art, and can be used to help detoxify the body and rid it of cellulite. To regain the smooth contours of your body, you must loosen the cellulite so your body can get rid of it.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Massage tool
  • Lotion or oil
  • Massage table or mat
  1. Step 1

Apply lotion or oil to the portion of the body containing the cellulite. This will help your hands glide more easily over the area, and allow you to manipulate the skin and the cellulite without causing pain to the client. The client will additionally benefit from an oil or lotion specifically manufactured to decrease the amount of cellulite in the body. Essential oils such as grapefruit, black pepper, ginger, geranium and rosemary help break down the toxins more efficiently.

  2. Step 2

Warm up the body tissue by gently kneading the area like you would knead bread dough. This helps to loosen the muscles and relax the client. The more relaxed the client becomes, the easier it is to work on him, and the easier it will be to perform a deep tissue massage that is pain-free to the client.

  3. Step 3

Pinch and manipulate the skin, working to break up the toxins that make up the cellulite. Massage the entire area, making sure to always massage toward the heart.

  4. Step 4

Finish the massage by using long, broad strokes across the body toward the heart. This will help the toxins move from the fat stores in the body so they can be flushed out later.

  5. Step 5

Have the client drink plenty of water following the massage, as this will assist their body in flushing out the toxins that have been released in the massage. Since the toxins are now in the client's bloodstream, they should drink at least 32 ounces of water in the hours following the massage to receive maximum benefits from the cellulite-reducing massage.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use a combination of oils to create your own cellulite reducing oil. Grapefruit oil is known to detoxify and help reduce cellulite. Black pepper warms and stimulates. Rosemary is good for cellulite treatment and also to treat varicose veins. Geranium helps detoxify the body and assists with lymph drainage. Ginger works to increase circulation.
  • Don't apply too much pressure when performing the massage, as this might hurt your client.
