As a home schooling parent, you know that home school curriculum can be expensive. One way to earn a little money to buy your home school books for the upcoming year is to sell the books that your children are done using. After all, if your children have completed a grade and you do not have any more coming into that grade in the future, you might as well pass them on to another home schooling family and make some money at the same time.

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer
  • Internet connection
  1. Step 1

Keep your books in a condition that makes them able to be sold. For instance, if the books have workbooks with them, have your children complete the work on separate paper. This will allow another family to make use out of the books when you sell them.

  2. Step 2

Talk to other home school parents in your area. See if they have any need of the books that you currently have.

  3. Step 3

Use the Internet to find more markets for your home school books. You can use website such as CraigsList (see Resources) to sell used home school curriculum, and this will open your materials to a larger market.

  4. Step 4

Join several online home schooling forums. Many of these websites have classified sections (see Resources). You can post what you have on these threads and find buyers for your home school books.

  5. Step 5

Participate in home school co-ops in your area, and let fellow home schoolers know which books you have available for sale.

Tips & Warnings
  • If someone needs your books and has books that you need, consider doing a trade instead of a straight sale. This will save money for both home schooling families.
  • Don't sell books that have answers written in them, unless you disclose this fact.
