How to Draw Boba Fett

Boba Fett is perhaps one of the most stylish bounty hunters in the universe. He has a cult-ish following and has always been a favorite character of many fans. He emits a certain guide of geeky ambivalence and a mysterious but dangerous facade. Learning to draw him can be broken down into a few easy parts. The first is the general shape of his head, the second his eye visor and the third the two strange curves inside the jaw area of the mask. You always want to end with that rocket perched like a parrot on his shoulder, too.

Instructions

    • 1

Draw an outline of Boba Fett's helmet. It is round on top but it is wider on the bottom, the sides actually flare out a little, then the mask comes together at a point in the center. So draw two more diagonal lines, this time horizontally oriented from the sides of the mask. These lines won't connect in the final drawing, but draw them to a point, just so you can get the proportions right.

    • 2

Sketch in the area for the eyes and mouth (the vertical slit down the middle of the mask. An easy way to do this is to just draw a large "T" with the vertical line dead center over the intersection of your two bottom horizontal lines, the ones we just drew.

    • 3

Draw slightly angled lines from the sides of the "T" to indicate the eyes, then draw two vertical lines to establish the width of the center vertical line.

    • 4

Harden or darken all your lines and get the proportions perfect. Now it is time to draw the third part, those weird quarter-circles or cheeks of the mask.

    • 5

Start your pencil an inch or so below the far corner of the right eye slit, then draw and arc that curves down to the bottom of the "T." This arc is not quite a circular shape, it has a longer curve near the bottom. Do the same on the other side.

    • 6

Notice that the lower half of the mask actually can be divided into two quadrants or rectangular sections on either side of the vertical mouth slit. To complete the drawing, you need to make one more arc shape from the lower side of the mask, up towards the eye slit. This is the same shape as the arc you drew in Step 5, but going the other way, so just draw it inside the shape.

    • 7

Shade under the first arc you drew down to the last arc to form the depth inside Boba Fett's mouth.

    • 8

Add the antenna on Boba Fett's left side, then use a few hatch marks to make some scuff marks and damage on Boba Fett, like in the movie.

Tips & Warnings

  • Draw marks to establish where the two arc shapes in the cheek area of Boba Fett's mask are. This will help you get the proportions right, which is the most important part of drawing this character.
