Disposable razors and razor blade refills can cost you a pretty penny! Here's a cheap and easy way to get them to last you a little longer and get more for your (hard-earned) money!!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Disposable razor or razor blade refills
  • Petroleum jelly product like Vaseline
  1. Step 1

When you finish shaving, it is imperative that you remove your razor from any moist area like the shower or bath and dry it well. Shake it dry, or dry it quickly with a hair dryer. Whatever you do, don't store your razor in the shower or bath or on the rim of the sink. The moisture will corrode blades quickly. Keeping your razor dry alone will increase the life of your blades!

  2. Step 2

Using a Q-tip type cotton swab, or even just a corner of a dry cloth, apply a very small amount of petroleum jelly product over the blades. Do this carefully so as not to cut yourself!

  3. Step 3

Store the razor upright in a dry area. I use one of the suction-cup hooks for razors and I keep it on my vanity mirror where it is handy to grab as I'm getting into the shower. It's not pretty there, but it is dry and out of the way. My husband sticks his inside a drawer.

Tips & Warnings
  • The petroleum jelly will also make for a smoother shave! It helps the razor glide smoothly along the skin.
  • You might need to use hot water when shaving and rinsing your blades at first. The water-repellent petroleum jelly will hold on to hairs and make it more difficult to clean the blades well.
