Step 1
Think seasonally. What are the main attractions in your area during the summer? Just a few opportunities might include resort staff, pool or lake lifeguarding, golf course work, ice cream stand server and camp counselor.
-
Step 2
Become a private tutor or instructor. If you can teach math to middle school students or show elementary kids how to ski, parents will pay you well to share your knowledge and skills with their children. Private tutors make a very nice hourly rate, as do sports instructors. This type of work has the potential to keep you as busy as you want to be, year round.
-
Step 3
Work with animals. Pet sitters, dog walkers and horse riders are in demand by those who have animals but have to be away form them due to vacation, work or family obligations. Step in to fill the void if you're an animal lover, and you have the potential for easy money for teens.
-
Step 4
Use the internet or your computer to make money, by teaching others your web-building skills or building websites for people who don't know how. You can also start your own internet-based business if the entrepreneur in you likes a challenge.
