Step 1
Consider seasonal businesses and tourist attractions in your area, which hire extra help in the summer when teens are out of school. These can be a perfect fit as the businesses and teens are usually both looking for short-term possibilities. Vacation destinations, amusement and theme parks, private campgrounds, water parks and canoe rental places are a few examples.
-
Step 2
Look into outdoor work, whether as a self-employed lawn care service provider or an employee at a plant nursery or landscaping business. These businesses are in higher demand in the warmer months, and increased summer crews mean job possibilities for teens.
-
Step 3
Try house-sitting and pet care for people leaving their homes to go on vacations or holiday trips. If you can walk the dog, water plants and pick up the mail, you can do this job. Your best asset will be references from satisfied customers, so work hard building credibility with your clients.
-
Step 4
Offer painting services to homeowners, many who like to choose their colors but not necessarily do the painting work themselves. If you live in an area where many houses are painted on the exterior, you could stay in business all summer with very little advertising once the word gets out about your business.
