How to Draw a Beautiful Rose
Learning to draw a beautiful rose isn't difficult. By taking your time to draw each component such as the stems, petals and leaves, you will have a realistic drawing of a rose in very little time. Once you learn how to draw basic shapes, you can add little details such as shading, shadows and additional leaves and petals to create something truly beautiful.

1
Begin by drawing a curvy line with a pencil. This line represents the stem of your rose. Lightly draw a circle at the top where you would like the head of the rose to be. You will have to erase this circle later on, so make sure that you don't draw it too heavy.

2
Lightly draw in where you would like the rose leaves to be in your picture. This will help you visualize the overall shape of your rose. You can always add more leaves or remove some of them if you change your mind.

3
Draw the center of the rose in the middle of the circle. The center can be a small curvy circle or a half circle. Continue to draw curvy half circles around the center of the rose. Each half circle should be a little larger than the one before it. You should draw at least four layers so the rose will look realistic.

Once you complete your rose, erase the circle used to position the flower on the page. To create realistic leaves, use the positions you chose earlier and draw leaves that have small, jagged edges on the sides. Leaves can point up, down or sideways depending on what looks best. Add veins to the leaves to make them appear more realistic. Erase the light sketch marks after drawing in the leaves.

Complete your rose by drawing thorns on the strem and making it thicker by adding an identical line next to it. Go back and create shadows by shading in areas where the petals curve out. You can do this by drawing tiny lines in these areas.
