How to Find the Most Popular Websites
There are multiple sites devoted to ranking websites. Website popularity can be based on traffic at the site. It can also mean social popularity. A website like Myspace, for example, gets loads of traffic, but it also has a sort of cultural popularity.

Search Alexa. You can search by Web Search, Site Ranking, or All Subjects. Alexa is the most respected web information company today. Alexa will show you daily reach, daily traffic, and page views, as well as loads of other information about any site.

Search Google Rankings. You may search by keyword, domain name, URL, or SOAP API key.

Try looking at Google Trends. Google Trends shows the top Google searches of the day. This will not show you specific websites, however you may use that information to find popular websites. Click on any of the hot searches and Google will show you news articles, blog posts, web results, the search volume index for the keyword, and its hotness, peak and related searches.

Popurls.com shows you information from Digg, Del.icio.us, and Reddit. Hovering over a title will show you a bit more information. Sign up for an account in the Popurls network and you can personalize your features, get recommendations and share sites.

Try out Trendalicious. It's a real-time ranking the top 100 sites based on Digg, Del.icio.us, and Reddit. While it's not a flashy website, it is incredibly useful for finding popular web pages. The right side frame shows a list of link stats: Del.icio.us, Digg, and Reddit, then its Trendy rank.
