A bridesmaid's bouquet should be pretty, lightweight and a compliment to the bride's bouquet. It should be smaller and less elaborate than the bouquet the bride is carrying. An easy to carry bouquet can be made in a pre-formed holder that has foam in it specifically for a silk or fresh project. If you are a crafter, you can make a bridesmaid's bouquet if you take it slowly and check how it looks frequently.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Flowers of choice
  • Bouquet holder for fresh or dry/silk arrangement
  • Wire cutters for silks
  • Sharp knife for fresh florals
  1. Step 1

Prepare your workspace and gather all the supplies listed to make your bridesmaid's bouquet. You need plenty of room to work in. Make sure you have good lighting in the work area. If you are making fresh wedding bouquets the water foam holder should have been soaking for at least 3 hours, though overnight is preferable.

  2. Step 2

Cut pieces of greenery with 2 or 3 inches of stem. Push stems into the foam around the bottom of the bouquet holder. You should fill in the bottom area.

  3. Step 3

Cut the stem of one perfect flower about 4-inches long. Place in the center of the bouquet holder foam. Make sure it is secure. This can be a focal flower in close up wedding portraits so it must be gorgeous.

  4. Step 4

Cut stems of several more flowers between 5 1/2- to 8-inches long. Add additional flowers to the bouquet three at a time using an imaginary triangle shape to help you place them in an equal distance from one another. Notice the three red roses in the picture. If you look closely you will notice that you can imagine a triangle shape in their placement.

  5. Step 5

Continue adding more flowers until the bouquet is filled out. Make sure each one is securely placed in the foam.Check that no foam shows. You can add crystal, pearl, heart stems, a corsage style bow or butterflies to the arrangements for a personal touch, if desired.

Tips & Warnings
  • Hold the bouquet in front of a mirror. This helps you to see if it looks uniform and has no gaps.
  • If you are using fresh flowers, be sure to keep them in a cool place at all times.
  • You can add ribbon to the handle.
