A round or colonial wedding bouquet has been part of wedding tradition for many years. Round wedding bouquets can be a labor intensive project with individually wired flowers. The pre-formed wedding bouquet holder is used to create an equally beautiful floral piece for the bride and smaller versions for the bridesmaids to carry. You can make a round wedding bouquet by following these suggestions.

Things You'll Need

  • Fresh or silk flowers
  • About 24 main flowers with babies breath, stephanotis or statice

Instructions

    • 1

Clear a large work area and have all supplies near at hand.

    • 2

Cut first flower stem to about 5 inches. Push down into the center of the bouquet holder.

    • 3

Fill around bouquet holder bottom with greenery.

    • 4

Use the larger blooms first. Cut stems 5 to 6 inches long. Push flowers into foam at angles surrounding the first flower. It will appear to be the highest flower in the holder. Make sure that the bouquet is maintaining a round shape.

    • 5

Fill in with smaller flowers such as stephanotis or babies breath. Adjust any flowers that have stems that are too long. Check for gaps and add more flowers.

Tips & Warnings

  • Constantly check that the bouquet is round.

  • Hold bouquet up to a mirror to check all angles for gaps and foam that needs covering.

  • If using fresh flowers, remove all thorns before beginning the project.
