Step 1
Decide how far you are willing to go. Most women choose to go bare these days and not just because the porn stars do it. Any woman who has ever had to go to the gynecologist or OBGYN has the mortal fear of all of the scary things they can and do do when they are "down there". Going bare has the benefit of being aesthetically pleasing to some, hygienically clean and easy to maintain. If you don't choose to go bare, shaving with a bikini on is your best bet because then you can shave the parts you need and leave the rest untouched.

Step 2
Wet the area thoroughly and apply shaving cream liberally. If you are using a hair removal cream, the skin must be dry before applying the cream. Many women like to shave first and then use the hair removal cream to remove any stray hairs. Be careful and use the cream that is made for the bikini area. Also, leave it on for the recommended amount of time only so that you don't get any burning.

Step 3
Choose a razor that is new or nearly new. Shaving the bikini area with a dull razor is a terrible idea, because the hair is already coarse and it will be extra tough to shave if your razor is dull. Shave both with and against the direction of hair growth. This needs to be done because razors cut hair at a slant and won't necessarily get it directly down to the surface of the skin if you don't shave in both directions. Also, remember to shave the area around your perineum because that will show when you're wearing a bikini.

Step 4
Use the hair follicle anti-growth cream after shaving to discourage hair from growing back too quickly. If you follow the steps in this article, you should only have to shave about once or twice a week, depending on how fast your hair grows. There are special shaving gels you can get that say they will prevent shaving bumps. This is a good investment because after shaving for awhile, you will notice a tendency to get ingrown hairs and bumps. The right shaving cream will help prevent this. Leaving a break in the days between shaving will help, too.
