Making your own incense can be rewarding. Imagine, being able to customize the fragrance of your incense to fill your home with your personal favorite smell. Incense also make a great gift, especially if it is customized to the interests of the gift receiver.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Mortar and pestle
  • Sandalwood
  • Ingredients of your choice (vanilla, clove, cassia, etc.)
  • Makko powder
  • Warm water
  • Essential oils (optional)
  1. Step 1

    Use a mortar and pestle to grind your ingredients into a powder.

  2. Step 2

    Mix 1/2 cup sandalwood powder with 1 cup of your desired ingredient powder.

  3. Step 3

    Add 1 cup of Makko powder.

  4. Step 4

    Add in a small amount of warm water to form into a dough.

  5. Step 5

    Add essential oils to your wet incense dough to create a stronger scent, if desired.

  6. Step 6

    Knead until it is workable to shape into a stick or cone, however you prefer to burn incense.

  7. Step 7

    Let dry and place in incense burner.
