Things You'll Need:
- Pencil
- Paper
- Eraser pin (pointed eraser)
-
Step 1
Draw the eye from the inside, out. Start with the eyeball, drawing the iris, the pupil and the actual eyeball. Try to get these circles as round as possible.
-
Step 2
Draw the top eyelid resting on the iris of the eye. It is a curved line that extends just past the edge of the eyeball on each side. To find out where the line should end, draw a straight line below the iris of the eye.
-
Step 3
Draw the lower lid. It skims the bottom of the iris of the eye and curves slightly upwards on the outside. On the inside, it dips down at the end to meet the top lid line.
-
Step 4
Draw the crease at the top of the eye. Use the top of the circle (eyeball) as your guide. Also, soften the line underneath the eye that marks the bottom of the eyeball.
-
Step 5
Draw eyelashes. Darken the line at the outer edge of the eyelid to emphasize eyelashes. You don’t want to try to draw in every eyelash as it will look rigid and unrealistic. Also, do not draw eyelashes all the way around the eye. Make stick mostly to the outside corner.
-
Step 6
Add shading to the eye. Use your pencil to add shadows around the eye. The shading should be the darkest at the inside bridge of the nose and at the eye crease.
-
Step 7
Add the final details to the eye. Use an eraser pencil to create a light spot in the eye where the light would reflect from a person’s eye, define the corners of the eye. If you look closely at an eye, you will see that you can actually see the edge of the eye ball in the corners, and a thin layer of flesh surrounding the eyeball. Draw this in.
