How to Make Your Own Plastic Tube Worms
Fishermen swear by their favorite lures, specific colors and other little things that they believe makes them catch more fish or the "big" fish. In pursuit of the "big" fish a lot of lures are lost and the costs add up quite quickly. Thus some fishermen make their own fishing lures and plastic tube worms.

1
Purchase some rubber molds of worms that you like fishing with, or you can choose to create your own rubber molds of your favorite worms. Shake the bottle of liquid plastic well. Make sure it mixes in its own container. It shouldn't have any solidifying flakes at the bottom. Set your melting pot on the stove and turn the heat to low.

2
Pour the liquid plastic into the pot. Don't fill it up any higher than halfway up in the pot. Stir the liquid as it cooks and melts. Continue to stir as the liquid thickens. It will become more clear as it reaches the correct consistency. The liquid will release gas as it melts so make sure the area is well ventilated.

Add in a few drops of dye or coloring to reach your desired color for the plastic. If you want to make a worm with multiple colors, melt liquid plastic in several pots so you have one for each color. Continue to stir the mixture so the color is throughly dispersed.

4
Pour the mixture into the molds. Wipe the top of the molds clean with a paper towel so the worms will be the correct shape without any excess plastic on the edges. Allow the molds to set for a few minutes. Then carefully remove the worms from the mold.
-
5
Immediately place the worms in a pan of cold water to allow them to finish firming up. Allow to remain in the water for half an hour then remove and dry off. If you want the worms to be harder or softer than your resulting worms from this trial, try adding a hardening or softening agent to the mixture in the pot. That's it! Enjoy your new fishing worms.
