1
Have the height and beauty. You must be at least 5'7," and it is better if you are taller. There are English models that are 5'11" and they get more work than those that are shorter. You must have a pretty face or a unique face. Acquire a unique style as well. Know who you are and what you like in order for your confidence to come across.

Develop a portfolio. You can hire someone to take the pictures or have a friend take them. These are primarily going to be head shots that you can send to model agencies. However, even though you may have photos to show an agency that will only get you in the door. It doesn't guarantee an interview with an agency.

Select a modeling agency that you feel most comfortable with. You may want to check with the Trading Standards, which is a place in the UK that can get you information regarding the company's reputation. It can be a big agency, if you are not intimidated by them, or a smaller one would do just as well. You can call for an appointment or if you send the photo samples the agency can decide for themselves if they want to interview you. If you appear in person the agency will tend to show more interest. English agencies have the perception that if you do not show up in person then you will not show as much enthusiasm.

Get an agent. Having an agent to represent you will show the agencies in England that you are willing to go that extra step to find work. Your agent can do the calling for you and set up an appointment for an interview with an agency. The agent can promote you better than you promoting yourself. Once you are hired you and your agent will need to discuss wages and working arrangements with the agency. Once you get a job you could earn approximately $150 an hour.

Be prepared to spend money. Upon being hired by an agency in England you will have to spend money to get more headshots taken through them. Larger agencies will usually not charge you but smaller ones will. They will also charge you for printing the shots and then not guarantee jobs for you. Many people that are trying to become a model in England will get a secondary job until their modeling career picks up. You have to earn money in order to survive and it could take up to six months before you even land a modeling agency never mind modeling work.
