How to Sell Jewelry

Giving jewelry as a gift is very common practice. There are jewelry stores in every mall, not to mention all the stand alone shops. People have no problem finding the exact jewelry item they want. With all the big guys around you probably wonder how you can make money with your jewelry. It will take time to build a good income but it is possible to make money in jewelry.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Time
  • Advertisments
  • Business cards
  • Storage
  • Creativity
  1. Step 1

Promote your jewelry. No matter whether you make your own jewelry or buy it to resale, you have to promote it. Giving out business cards is a great way to promote any business. Be sure to list all the pertinent information on the card such as business name, address, phone number, and unique information about your jewelry. Give the cards to friends and family, leave them on tables at eating establishments, and put them up on community boards where allowed.

  2. Step 2

Take pictures of your jewelry items and make flyers to pass around. People will be drawn to a flyer with actual pictures of the items you are selling more than just a plain flyer. Make it attractive to draw more people in!

  3. Step 3

Purchase a domain name and make your own website. Place pictures and descriptions of your jewelry on the site. Almost everyone uses the Internet these days so a website is a good way for any business to make money.

Jewelry that is hand made and one of a kind should be prominently displayed on the site. People will often pay more for one of a kind jewelry. List information about the artist and why they got into jewelry making. It's always nice to get to know an artist if you like their work.

If you bought the jewelry from a wholesale company to resale it's still important to place eye catching items front and center. A good website layout will bring repeat customers easier than one that's a mess.

  4. Step 4

Put your hand made jewelry in specialty shops. Go around to boutiques and consignment shops in town and ask if they will let you put a display up. This is a great way to get your jewelry seen by lots of people! Even though there will be a commission for the shop owner, you can still make a nice income with this option.

  5. Step 5

Have a party! Throw a jewelry party and invite all your friends and family. Ask them to each bring a guest. Have different pieces for everyone to check out and be ready to take orders. Make the collection attractive and present it with clear information. Make the party fun and memorable. If people like your merchandise and had fun they may be open to hosting a party for you, which is another way to generate income.

  6. Step 6

Try each option and see what works best, or combine them all. Following these suggestions will help you make money in jewelry as long as the product is good quality and enticing. A good, quality product really does sell itself!
