Things You'll Need:
- Internet connection
- Hotmail e-mail account
-
Step 1
Access your Hotmail e-mail account and login using your ID and password. If you don’t have an account yet, sign up for a free one at www.hotmail.com. After successful registration, login to your account.
-
Step 2
Once you are logged in successfully, check your inbox for e-mail messages. You will see that there are a number of e-mails from certain senders and these are the emails you would like to be sorted out automatically next time. You will need to create folders to be used as a target location for these e-mail messages. To create new folder, click “New” on the top-left corner of the screen and choose “Folder…” option. Name your folder the way you want it.
-
Step 3
Click “Options” found on the right-hand corner of your email account window. A drop-down menu will be displayed. Click “More options…” You will be directed to another window.
-
Step 4
Under the “Customize your mail” heading, there are choices given how to customize your e-mails. Click “Automatically sort e-mail into folders” option.
-
Step 5
You will now create one or more filters to automatically put messages into certain folders as they arrive. To create a new filter, click the “New filter” button. Configure the settings by following the instructions in creating/editing the filter. Click “Save” button to save the changes made.
-
Step 6
If you want to create more filters, repeat step 5 until you are done.
-
Step 7
Go back to your inbox to continue reading your e-mail messages or sign out. The filters you created will apply the next time the contacts your configured will send you e-mail messages. Those e-mails will be stored directly into the customized folders you created instead of crowding your inbox.
