Find a pair of badly torn-on the knees or legs-jeans. Ask a friend for theirs or use one of your old badly worn jeans. Make sure that the jeans are torn below the knees so you can hem them to the correct length.

  2. Step 2

Cut the jeans above the knees. For a shorter skirt cut higher. Use a ruler and measure the desired length of the skirt. Mark across with white chalk or pins.

  3. Step 3

Use scissors and cut straight across the marked line. Open the seams (if needed), between the pants to open the entire area that now that you have transformed your jeans into a denim skirt.

  4. Step 4

Fold up the bottom of the new skirt on the bottom and stitch to make a small hem. Sew to attach the edging. Wash and iron if it needs it and enjoy wearing the new skirt you just made from ripped jeans.

Tips & Warnings
  • Instead of turning over and stitching the hem,put sticky tape to the bottom to keep the skirt from raveling. Sew the border edging on top to cover.
