Ever wonder how to get a flawless, smooth finish for your makeup? Ever wonder how to make your makeup last longer and not run from your face? The solution actually comes by applying a primer for your foundation.

Primer's come in a variety of brands and types, and they work to fill in fine lines and pores so that once your foundation is applied on top of the primer, a smooth, flawless finish is achieved.

Great brands of primers include the highly recognized Smashbox (about 30.00 a bottle), Bare Escentuals, and Makeup Forever.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Primer
  • Foundation that matches your skin tone
  • a loose face powder to set your foundation
  1. Step 1

Go to your favorite place to shop for cosmetics and look for a primer that suits your skin. If you have combination skin, Smashbox makes a water based primer for oily/acne prone or sensitive skin.

  2. Step 2

Using the Primer: Make sure your face is clean. If you have dry skin, apply a moisturizer, and wait 10 minutes for your skin to absorb the moisturizer.

Then apply a small amount of primer (a bead or two), and smooth over your entire face.

  3. Step 3

Wait a few minutes for your primer to set before applying foundation or loose powder.

  4. Step 4

Now apply your foundation or loose powder, and your skin will look smoother and you won't feel like you are wearing a lot of makeup!

Primer is great because it makes your face feel lighter, and that cakey feeling or look is not there. It's definitely a beauty must have.
