Check with local pawn brokers. Some of them have made connections that can help bring a good profit for old jewelry items. However, be cautious and get several quotes before deciding where to sell your gold. This isn't the time to accept pawn shop prices when there are big bucks to be found in the gold jewelry market.

Check the yellow pages to determine who else in the area might be making gold purchases. Some jewelry dealers are also beginning to get in on the market. A few of them even have the equipment to melt and recycle the gold for their own personal use.

I think that it would be helpful to let people know what they should expect. If you take the spot gold price and multiply by .0266 that should give you approximately the fair price being paid for scrap 14kt gold. Spot x .019 is for 10KT. -
