How to Make Beautiful Bows

An original bow added to a gift box, gift basket, floral arrangement or a wreath, will be the highlight of the project and will complete the look.

Begin by making a loop made from the ribbon, twist and allow a tail to extend on the end. This will be the center of the bow. Continue by making another loop, twisting, then another about the same size. Increase each loop as you twist and add yet another, until the bow is the size desired. Allow a length of ribbon to remain for a tail.

Secure in the center with three or four twists of floral wire. Allow about six inches to remain.

Pull gently to arrange the loops. Clip each end of the ribbon tails with a "v" cut.

Create a layered effect by making another bow using the same technique. Increase the size in order to attach the first bow directly on top of this completed bottom layer. Secure the bows together with the floral wire by twisting tightly. When layering a bow, choose a different color or texture to create a dramatic effect.

Make elegant bows by attaching tulle, feathers, sequins or novelty ornaments, to suit the occasion.

Wired ribbon is easier to work with than regular floral ribbon.
