It's traditional at a wedding reception for the bride and groom to give their guests wedding favors. These are small tokens of their appreciation to their guests for sharing their special day with them. For a bride and groom who are looking to make their wedding a little more environmentally friendly, choosing to give green wedding favors is one easy way to do it.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Decide on your budget for wedding favors. There are options for green wedding favors for all budgets, but if you don't know your budget first, it will be tough to decide which favors are right for you.

  2. Step 2

Research your options. Good choices can be wild flower seed cards, small bags of fair trade organic coffee or tea, fair trade chocolates, candles made from soy or bees wax, or tree seedlings. If you're getting married in the spring, you can opt for a small planted tomato plant and a small planted basil plant with a little note saying "We go together like tomato and basil."

  3. Step 3

Have your green wedding favors personalized with a note on recycled paper with your names, the date, and a small message or favorite poem for your guests.

  4. Step 4

Consider a modern alternative to giving individual favors. Many couples now choose to make a donation on behalf of their wedding guests to a favorite charity or organization. Choose an environmental organization that you admire and make a donation. At the reception announce to the guests that instead of traditional wedding favors, you've opted to use that money for a good cause and tell them where you made the donation.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't get too obsessed with being green. Do what you can and forgive yourself where you lack.
