Whether you wear makeup only on special occasions or on a daily basis, you are probably familiar with how hard certain kinds of makeup can be to remove. One of the hardest kinds of makeup to remove is eye makeup. Because eyeliner and mascara are often designed to be waterproof and because they are warn in such a tender area, they pose a challenge when it comes time to remove them. There is good news. You can safely and effectively remove mascara at the end of the day. Keep reading to find out how.
Begin by gently moistening the area with some warm water and a washcloth. Dip the washcloth in the warm water and lightly run the washcloth on your face. You aren't trying to actually remove the eyelash tinting by doing this. You are simply trying to loosen the tinting with a light later of warm water.
Dip a cotton ball into either cooking oil, personal lubricant (such as KY) or into a special eye makeup remover. Rub the cotton ball lightly back and forth along the edges of your eyelids. Keep your eyes are closed. Be careful not to rub too vigorously because this can cause your under eyes to bruise. You will have dark circles under your eyes.
Repeat step 2 until most or all of the eyelash tinting has been removed. You may want to change the direction in which you swipe the cotton ball to a downward stroke to help get that last bit of mascara off.
Hop in the shower with your wash cloth and allow the steam and hot water to loosen the last little bit of mascara that is probably clinging to the roots of your eyelashes.
Pat your eyes dry when you get out of the shower. If you have any eyelash tinting around your eyes then you can use a little bit of the oily substance that you used before to remove that last bit with a cotton ball. Remember not to rub too hard.
