How to Make Candy Cakes
Cakes are made for many occasions, but sometimes cakes are made just for fun. Making a candy cake is both an occasion and a lot of fun. Follow a few simple steps and soon you'll be making your own tasty, delicious cake, made with candy. Invite your friends over and celebrate the day.
Things You'll Need
- 12 miniature candy bars
- 2 T. milk
- 18.5 oz. white cake mix
- 1 C. water
- 1/3 C. vegetable oil
- 3 eggs
- 2 T. flour
- Saucepan
- Large bowl
- Electric mixer
- Spoon
- Cake pan
- Shortening

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease and flour a 13-by-9 inch cake pan.

Melt the candy bars and the milk in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the candy has melted. Let the mixture cool for five minutes.

Blend the cake mix, water, oil and eggs in a large bowl using an electric mixer. Beat the cake mixture for two minutes on low.

Stir 2/3 cup of the cake mix and the flour into the cooled candy mixture. Mix until it is fully blended.

Pour the remaining cake batter into the prepared cake pan. Put the chocolate candy mixture on top of the cake batter. Using a knife, swirl the candy mixture into the cake batter making a swirled pattern in the cake. Bake the cake for 28 to 32 minutes. Let the cake cool before frosting.

Tips & Warnings
When making a candy cake, experiment by adding different types of candy. Chocolate chips, M&Ms, peppermint candy, and other types, are also great tasting in a cake.
Don't overbake your cake. Use a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake to make sure it is done. If the toothpick comes out clean, the cake is ready.
