Christmas decorations are beautiful and sometimes expensive. This article will give you some insight to making your own holiday decorations with clippings from a Holly bush that you would normally throw away. When you are finished reading it, you will be able to make a beautiful wreath for the holiday season.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Holly bush clippings
  • Floral wire (green)
  • Wire cutters
  • Gardening gloves
  1. Step 1

Gather all the items needed and place them on a flat surface for working. Put on your gloves and begin sorting out the holly trimmings into long trimmings down to the small trimmings.

  2. Step 2

Begin with the long trimmings. Place two trimmings together and wrap a piece of floral wire around them to hold them together and in place. Move down the stem of one, and place another long one on the pile and wrap some wire around it. Continue this until, when the trimmings are pulled together end to end, they are the size of a circle you want your wreath to be. Pull the ends together and wire them in place, making a circle.

  3. Step 3

Move to the next smaller size trimmings and begin wiring them on each side of the larger trimmings. This will make your wreath full and wider. Continue moving to the next smaller trimmings until the wreath is the size you want. Make sure it is full enough and thick enough. You don't want your wreath to have holes in it.

  4. Step 4

Weave wire in and out of the trimmings now, to stabilize the entire wreath. Finish off your wreath with your own ideas such as red bow, tiny plastic gifts, or candy canes.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure you wrap each piece of trimming tightly so that the wreath is stable.
  • When adding other trimmings, make sure you add them to both the sides and the top of the wreath.
