Research your area to see who covers it, this will quickly narrow down a list of available companies. I will list the companies in the resource section. Service is number one priority.

Figure out what you will need for minutes and service per month, you will need this to compare plans. Most plans require you to purchase a phone, some have cheap phones but very expensive service such as Trac-Phone. If you know what you use in a month you can figure out what you will need for a year. More minutes and service is usually a less expensive rate.

Step 3
Ask you friends and family what service they have and how well the reception is in your area. Cricket has low rates but the coverage in some areas is small, Verizon has higher rates but their coverage is much better.
