How to Make Tubby Toast

How to Make Tubby Toast thumbnail
The Teletubbies consume Tubby Toast.

Tubby toast is not a fat piece of bread. It was one of the foods consumed by the characters of a PBS program that aired for seven years. The characters were aimed at preschool-age children. They spoke in a baby-like language, and spent a lot of time rolling down hills. Their food is kid-friendly too since the toast is just regular toast with a candy twist. This version is good for breakfast or bedtime snacks. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

      Toast a slice of bread.

    • 2

Using a knife or a circular cookie cutter, cut a circle out of the square toast.

    • 3

Spread peanut butter on the toasted bread.

    • 4

Press M&M's, jelly beans or raisins into the peanut butter to form a smiling mouth and eyes. As an alternative, skip the peanut butter and make the face out of raisins alone. The Tubby Toast is ready as soon as the extras are in place.

Tips & Warnings

  • Press the M&M's, jelly beans, or raisins into the bread. The sticky peanut butter will hold them place for easier eating.

  • If using jelly bean, beware of choking hazards for small children and babies.

We like to do this with waffles. Fun and if you do it right, healthy too! I like the name you gave it, we'll have to remember that!

This sound fantastic even for the big kids too! You could probably use Reeses Pieces as an alternative to M&M's.
