Get Medication Free

With prices rising for everything, it is no wonder prescription medications are un-affordable for people on a fixed income. There is no need for you to go without your medications. Follow these steps and get help today.

From Quick Guide: Healthcare Management
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Prescriptions
  • Computer
  • Internet access
  1. Step 1

Go to Rx Assist at http://www.rxassist.org/default.cfm. This website will help you determine your eligibility for free medication from drug manufacturers such as Astrazeneca and Pfizer. Many pharmaceutical companies donate medication to seniors and less fortunate who cannot afford to pay for their medication. If you aren't eligible to get it free, you might be eligible for a discount.

  2. Step 2

Complete the forms. Fill in all of the requested information to prevent delay.

  3. Step 3

Ask your physician about programs with pharmaceutical companies who will donate your medication to you if the circumstances are applicable.

  4. Step 4

Ask your doctor and your pharmacy about discount prescription programs.

  5. Step 5

Check out Destination Rx at http://www.drx.com/. This site will give you resources that provide free medications and discounted prices. Some will link you to online Canadian pharmacies where the prices are sometimes cheaper than in the USA.

  6. Step 6

Ask your doctor about samples. Pharmaceutical sales representatives leave samples with doctors all the time. If the samples aren't used within a certain time frame; they get destroyed. The same for pharmaceutical companies. I am sure they prefer the drug be used than trashed. Just ask.

Tips & Warnings
  • Always ask your doctor if samples are available.
  • Don't go without your medication. There are options available. Talk to your doctor and pharmacists.
  • When ordering medications online, stick to well-known pharmacies, like Walgreens, CVS Pharmacy, Rite Aid, Walmart and so on.
  • Make sure prescription medications ordered online are from reputable pharmacies. Ask them to email you a copy of their pharmacy license or read off their pharmacy number to you; then call the board of pharmacy in that state and check it out.
  • Stay away from online pharmacies willing to provide you prescription medication without a prescription.

on 10/26/2008 Starlet - you bought up a great point. So many either "don't know" or have decided without even checking that they don't qualify.

on 10/21/2008 This is great article....anyone who in on a Rx..needs
to read this! So many people over-pay for drugs when
they don't have to because they are unaware that any
program exists....and they also believe that they
don't qualify anyway.
