Catnaps are short but benefical.
Catnaps are short but benefical.

We all feel we need more sleep. Here are a few tips to trick yourself into believing you have received more sleep when you actually have not.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • an alarm clock
  1. Step 1

Set your clock ten minutes ahead. When the alarm goes off you think you have to get up. Instead you will be pleased to know you have ten more minutes of snooze time.

  2. Step 2

Set your alarm 30 minutes prior to when you wish to wake up. This allows the luxury of hitting the snooze button three times before you need to get up. This gives you the feeling of sleeping in. Warn your spouse before trying this one.

  3. Step 3

In the fall when you're expected to set your clock back an hour, simply refuse to do it. When you wake up in the morning you can then remind yourself you have an extra hour. You will feel more refreshed than those who set there clocks back the night before.

  4. Step 4

Take a short nap when you are forced to wait (doctor's office, the DMV). You may only doze off for a few minutes, but it feels like much longer.

Tips & Warnings
  • Most results are completely psycological and do not actually result in a greater amount of sleep. If you really need more sleep, try going to bed earlier.

on 8/6/2008 Well, this is kind of unrelated. But I read about some finding some months ago arguing that short naps after lunch are really musts for today's hectic lifestyle. Anyway, with the work I have to do... looks like I'll have to pass that one up. 5 stars for you!
