How to Make a Sparkly Gold Fish Mobile or Display

You can never have enough crafts for elementary age children. This is a craft that gives you an opportunity to talk to children about our great oceans and the creatures that inhabit them. More than that though, it is just fun!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Paper
  • Cardboard or Poster Board
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • Decorations
  • Crayons or Markers
  • Hanger
  • Hole Punch
  1. Step 1

    Draw or download and print a picture of a fish.

  2. Step 2

    Cut and paste the picture onto a piece of thin cardboard or poster board.

  3. Step 3

    Cut out the outline of the fish in the stronger material.

  4. Step 4

    Use crayons or markers to color the fish for a base.

  5. Step 5

    Use glue to apply sequins, buttons, glitter, confetti or any other decorations.

  6. Step 6

    Use either a display board or bulletin board if you are in a classroom and cover with blue paper,

  7. Step 7

    Cut and place shapes of waves, seaweed, caves, or other underwater sights.

  8. Step 8

    Put tape on the back of fish and add to the display.

  9. Step 9

    If this is a home project, follow the above steps using poster board.

  10. Step 10

    For a mobile cut holes in the top of fish with a hole punch.

  11. Step 11

    Make two or more fish.

  12. Step 12

    Follow the same procedure you did for making the fish to make seaweed, eels or octopus.

  13. Step 13

    Tie string through to hang.

  14. Step 14

    Use a coat hanger to hang from a ceiling hook.

Tips & Warnings
  • Watch carefully over children with small objects, glue and scissors.
