Are you afraid you are going to lose your boat ladder?? You will learn how to keep that from happening. Losing the ladder can cost you a few hundred $$$$ to replace.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Nylon rope or a bicycle chain with lock waterproof lock
  • A couple of swim noodles.
  • A cutting tool, knife,heavy duty scissors
  • plastic tie wraps
  1. Step 1

While ladder is in place on the deck of the boat, measure it's length along sides.

  2. Step 2

Cut the noodles to the same length of the ladder. Place them on the edge and use tie wraps(plastic ties used for handcuffs) they are available in home improvement stores. Be sure the rail fits inside the noodle strip.

  3. Step 3

Wrap the tie wrap around the rail and noodle and insert the end to tighten the two pieces together. Trim off excess tie wrap.

  4. Step 4

After moving the ladder over the side of the boat, and putting it in place You are ready to secure it to the boat. Using a bicycle chain with plastic covering, and a waterproof lock secure the top of the ladder to the railing or the door so even if you drop the ladder it will not sink.

Tips & Warnings
  • This also may prevent someone stealing your ladder if you have your boat in a marina.
  • We did this after our ladder slipped out of my husband's hands while bringing it back onto the pontoon. Fortunately he is a great swimmer and was able to quickly dive and grab onto the ladder before it was out of reach.
