SAVE gas!
SAVE gas!

Gasoline and/or diesel fuels are expensive these days. Gone are the days of long travels, joy rides, picnics with friends and even the luxury of daily use of our cars.

This article will give you ideas on how to
save gas and conserve energy.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • car, gasoline or diesel fuel, odometer, speedometer, notebook, pen, schedule notepad, fuel tank, maintenance records, money, credit cards
  1. Step 1

Be sure that your car is in good running condition. Have it checked by your mechanic. A properly tuned up car can save gas. The engine, the fuel lines and the filters up to the carburetor or injection pump for diesel should be clean all the time.

  2. Step 2

If you are really serious to know some tips about saving, be sure to have your odometer, speedometer, fuel gauge and the like in order so these could function well.

  3. Step 3

Fill your tank up. A full tank car can function efficiently. This will now start as base and we compute the number of kilometers your one (1) liter of gas or diesel could go. Before you travel, record the readings. After the travel record the readings again and subtract. The total number of kilometers could be extracted by this simple procedure.

  4. Step 4

Fill the tank up again after the trip and the total number of liters filled to have a full tank is the total number of liters used during the trip. Repeat the procedure constantly to monitor the average number of kilometers your one (1) liter could go. Just simple.

  5. Step 5

Excessive idling should be avoided. Slowly drive to warm your engine up. During rainy or colder days, warm up for a few minutes before the trip.

  6. Step 6

When driving, watch out for your speed. Never over speed because this will need a lot of fuel.

  7. Step 7

Do not forget to have your brakes checked, brake fluids too. A defective brake system could also increase gas consumption. Have your wheel balanced and the tires inflated the required air specified. Unevenly inflated tires could be disastrous and gas consuming.

  8. Step 8

Last tip- have a car less day and just discipline yourself not to use all the time your car. Use the train, bike etc. just to save but saving could also save the lives of others. Why? you can lessen pollution.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not forget to keep records of minor repairs and maintenance schedules to keep you updated.
  • When parking, park your car under shades to lessen gas evaporation.
  • See to it that your fuel tank is not leaking.
  • Leaking fuel tanks could waste gas and this maybe a cause for fire.
