Instructions

    • 1

Pinch the curved part of the hook between your thumb and index finger with the eye of the hook pointing away from your hand. Grab the fishing line with the other hand.

    • 2

Thread about 3 inches of fishing line through the eye of the hook.

    • 3

Create a loop with the fishing line by bending it and making it parallel with the line not running through the hook.

    • 4

Twist the fishing line around itself six times.

    • 5

Thread the end of the fishing line through the loop created in Step 3. You will create another loop by doing this.

    • 6

Thread the fishing line through the loop created in Step 5.

    • 7

With the hand that is holding the fishing hook, grab the end of the line that has been run through the two loops.

    • 8

Gently pull on the fishing line to tighten the knot.

    • 9
      Finished knot

The knot should look like this when it's finished and should be tightly attached to the hook.

    • 10

Clip the excess line with the fingernail clippers.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not attempt to bite the fishing line to remove the excess; this can result in cracked or chipped teeth.
