How to Make Bathtub Paints
If you have a hard time trying to get your kids in the bathtub, there are lots of ways you can make bath time more fun. With these homemade paints that double as soap, your kids can feel like they are getting dirty while they are actually getting clean.
Things You'll Need
- 1 envelope of unflavored gelatin
- ¼ cup hot water
- ½ cup cornstarch
- 3 tbsp sugar
- 1 ¾ cups cold water
- ¼ cup liquid soap
- Food coloring
- Saucepan
- Small jars with lids

Pour ¼ cup warm water in a bowl. Stir the gelatin into the water and let it stand for 10 minutes until dissolved.

Combine the cornstarch, sugar and cold water in a saucepan and stir. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally. Cook for several minutes, until thick.

Reduce the heat and add the gelatin mixture and liquid soap. Stir until smooth. Allow it to stand until cool.

Divide the mixture equally into small jars. Add a few drops of different colored food coloring into each jar. Close the lids tightly and shake well until the mixture and food coloring are thoroughly combined.

Allow your children to finger paint the inside of the tub, the shower walls and themselves. Close lids tightly to store.

Tips & Warnings
Wash the paint off immediately after your child bathes, so the food coloring doesn't stain the tub. If the tub does become stained, simply scrub with cleanser.
Do not eat the paint.
