Things You'll Need:
- A television

Step 1
Beijing's Bird's Nest StadiumTune in to opening night ceremonies. You can't possibly see everything that occurs during the Olympics' August 8-24th, 2008 events, but watching opening ceremonies will get you excited to watch your favorite events over those couple of weeks. Show your patriotism, and watch as our nation's most skilled athletes prepare for the challenge of their lives. The opening night ceremonies typically include themes surrounding the host culture (Beijing, China) and give all the athletes an opportunity to come together before turning on the competition. See my article: http://www.ehow.com/how_4468895_summer-olympics-opening-night-celebration.html on how to make a night of it and host a Summer Olympics Opening Night Celebration party in your own home.

Step 2
Choose your sport. By concentrating on a sport you love, you have a chance to get to know the best and brightest athletes of the sport and follow their progress throughout the games. Check your local listings for schedules of when your sport is having an event. You can also check the home page for the Beijing Summer Olympics at http://en.beijing2008.cn/schedule/ for a breakdown of the scheduled events by sport.

Step 3
Go for the Gold!Get Active - Now is a great time to let the Olympics inspire you. Why not use the televised competitions to get you moving? Picture yourself as an Olympic hopeful and after watching the best in each sport, get up and try it yourself. A couple of laps in the pool or a fun handball or badminton game (yes, those are now Olympic events) will get you started!
-
Step 4
Get your family involved - the Olympics are a great time to teach kids about healthy, friendly competition and national pride. As all kids love sports by nature, they will surely love tracking the progress of their favorite athletes and forming their own sports-oriented goals and dreams. Then take it outside and get a little friendly game of badminton going for your own family Olympics!
