Select Jogging Strollers
Select Jogging Strollers

Jogging strollers are much more complex than the old fashioned umbrella strollers. There are numerous features one must consider before making such a large purchase. After all, even an inexpensive jogging stroller costs at least $100. Before spending that kind of money on a stroller, become an educated consumer. This article will help you compare and contrast the jogging strollers on the market today.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Determine why you need a jogging stroller. Is it for strolling on gravel roads, or will you be doing some real running? Many people simply need a jogging stroller because they live in an area with gravel roads. Jogging strollers simply have better wheels for gravel.

  2. Step 2

Consider swivel front wheeled jogging strollers if you will only use your stroller for off-roading. Although the front swivel wheel is extremely popular, it is not ideal for runners.

  3. Step 3

Choose your wheel size. The typical wheel sizes for jogging strollers are 20 inches, 16 inches, and 12 inches. The most common size is the 16 inch wheel. The larger the wheels, typically, the higher the price.

  4. Step 4

Think about the future. Are you planning for more children? Since jogging strollers are such investments, plan ahead. If you know you are going to have more children, buy a double jogging stroller now. Otherwise, a single will do.

  5. Step 5

Select the option of added shock suspension if you will be walking or jogging on rough terrain. If you will only be using your jogging stroller for running on sidewalks, this option is completely unnecessary.

  6. Step 6

Decide when you will use your stroller. If you want to run fairly soon after your baby's birth, there are certain jogging strollers that have fully reclining seats that allow a baby to lie down. There are also certain jogging stroller models with hanging bassinets right inside.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be sure to talk to your newborn's pediatrician before you begin running with her in a jogging stroller. Some doctors do not recommend this until they reach a certain age.
  • Don't bother purchasing front wheel swiveling jogging strollers because they have a locking mechanism for the front wheel. There is still quite a bit of give to the front wheel and it could cause problems if you plan on jogging a with it.
