How Do I Make a Homemade Foot Scrub?

The purpose of a foot scrub is to clean, deodorize, remove excess skin cells and keep the feet soft and supple. You can buy premade foot scrub at specialty stores, drug stores and even in the cosmetic section of most grocery stores. However, these products can be expensive and may have chemical fragrances and additives. Make your own foot scrub with natural ingredients for a fraction of the cost. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Combine the Epsom salt, sea salt and baking soda in the large bowl. The Epsom salt draws toxins out of the skin, the baking soda is a deodorant and all three ingredients exfoliate the skin. Use your hands to mix the ingredients together.

    • 2

Wear plastic gloves to handle the essential oils. Undiluted essential oils can irritate bare skin. Gloves will also keep the oils from scenting your hands.

    • 3

Add oils to the mix. Essential oils add fragrance and serve a therapeutic purpose. For an antifungal foot scrub, try 15 drops of tea tree oil and 10 drops of peppermint oil. For an invigorating scrub, try 15 drops of peppermint oil and 10 drops of lemon.

    • 4

Blend the oils into the mix with your hands.

    • 5

Mix in enough liquid to make a thick paste. For a cleansing scrub, add unscented liquid castile soap. For a moisturizing scrub, add grapeseed oil.

    • 6

Transfer the scrub to an air-tight plastic container. Store it in a cool, dry place for up to six months.
