When you train for a triathlon you have to be dedicated. Not only must you be a good runner but you also be skilled in biking and swimming.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

The majority of the race is biking, so you will definitely want to hone that skill. Start out by biking just a few miles a day, then to continue to add miles each day.

  2. Step 2

Also make sure you stay hydrated. Because it is such a physically demanding event you will definitely need to be to complete it.

  3. Step 3

When you are practicing for one of the three pieces of the triathlon, make sure you stretch. If you pull a muscle, it may affect your performance throughout the race.

  4. Step 4

Train with a buddy. If you have someone with you and encouraging you, it will help you stay motivated. Try to find someone who is on the same physical level as you, so you can grow together.

  5. Step 5

Sodas are pretty much a "no-no" during your training. They can result in a side stitch when running. It will eventually go away while you are running but it will definitely slow you down.

  6. Step 6

Stay positive. If this is your first triathlon, don't feel like you have to come in first place. That can put a lot of pressure on you. Just work on doing your personal best.
