Make Milk Carton Candles
Make Milk Carton Candles

This can be a fun holiday project or gift for grandparents.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Empty Milk Cartons (quart or pint)
  • Wax
  • Wick
  • Old Pot (to melt wax in)
  • Popsicle stick
  • Funnel
  • Fragrances (optional)
  • Coloring (optional)
  1. Step 1

Cut the milk carton to desired candle height, giving yourself about an inch of room at the top after wax is poured in.

  2. Step 2

Melt wax to a liquid form. Add any fragrances and/or coloring at this point.

  3. Step 3

Pour a tiny bit of wax using a funnel (can be made out of paper) on the bottom of milk carton.

  4. Step 4

Drop bottom of wick (the little metal foot) into milk carton and let the wax dry around the footing. Wrap the wick around the popsicle stick and rest it on top of the milk carton.

  5. Step 5

Once footing is secure pour in wax through the funnel until an inch below the top of milk carton. Let wax harden thoroughly.

  6. Step 6

Peel milk carton away from candle. You can use a knife to separate the milk carton from the candle.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can get wax, fragrances and coloring at any craft store.
  • Candle wax is hot, so adult supervision is needed at all times!
  • If you would like to layer colors, pour first color wax and let harden. Then pour second layer let harden and repeat until you have all the layers you would like.
