Things You'll Need:
- Stats
-
Step 1
Know the rules of the fantasy league. Some are very heavy on points for quarterbacks by giving lots of points for touchdowns and yardage. This means drafting a quarterback that will produce a lot of yards and touchdowns is critical. Without a top quarterback the season will make you feel all alone.
-
Step 2
Pour over the stats of not only the quarterback, but the players around him. A quarterback might have the best arm in the league, but if the wide receivers and running backs are weak, the quarterback' s numbers will fall off.
-
Step 3
Understand the stats. Stats are meaningful only if they represent the entire picture. This means avoid jumping on a player with just one great season. Yes, they might be the real deal, but a player with top numbers for two or more seasons is a safer bet.
-
Step 4
This one has more to do with the person drafting than the players. Avoid excessive use of alcohol during the draft. There have been some interesting picks taken over the years driven by too much alcohol. Such picks are remembered for years to come and are never really gotten over.
