Things You'll Need:
- Flax seed oil
- Brush
- Towel
- Hair dryer
-
Step 1
Keep a consistent schedule when you brush your dog and exercise it every day. Not only does this prevent the dandruff from being visible, but this daily regimen can put your dog's body back into balance. Make sure to brush the hair evenly so that the oils in the dog's skin gets distributed evenly.
-
Step 2
Add a small amount of flax seed oil to your dog's food every day. Dogs need fatty acids in their diet, so this can help supplement them if they are not getting enough.
-
Step 3
Wash your dog once a week or once every two weeks. Washing them more than this can dry out your dog's skin and cause the dandruff. When you do wash your dog, brush out the hair and thoroughly dry it. If there is any matted fur that cannot be brushed out, try to cut it out.
-
Step 4
Adjust your dog's diet. It's best to check with a veterinarian, but some dogs develop allergies to their food, which causes skin irritations and problems such as dandruff. Your dog might be allergic to corn or other fillers that might be in their food.
