Flickr is a popular photo and video hosting website. It has many useful features, one of which is geotagging. Geotagging allows you to add specific location information to your photos. Geotagged photos show your friends and family where you took a specific shot. Alternately, you can also browse photos on Flickr that have been geotagged by others. Perhaps you're thinking of taking a vacation to a particular place; on Flickr you can search for geotagged photos that might give you a better idea of what your desired locale looks like. Geotagging is just one of the features that has made Flickr such a popular photo sharing website.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Flickr account
  • Computer
  • Web
  1. Step 1

Log in to your Flickr account. From the log in screen, click on "Organize," located at the top of the page. This will bring you to the "Organizr". You will complete most of the organizing and tagging work on your photostream here.

  2. Step 2

At the top left of the Organizr page, you will see a series of choices starting with "Batch organize." Click on the fourth choice from the left. It will say, "Map." This will bring up a map of the world in the center of the Organizr page.

  3. Step 3

Using your mouse, click around on the map until you find the location you're looking for. The map will first appear as an image of the entire world. Narrow down, using the clicks of your mouse.

  4. Step 4

Choose your location on the map. You may get fairly specific. For example, an actual street intersection. Or you can settle for a specific city.

  5. Step 5

Locate the photo that you'd like to geotag in your photostream. At the bottom of the Organizr screen you will see thumbnails of all of the photos in your photostream. Navigate to the photo of your choice and use your mouse to click and drag the thumbnail onto the map. Drop the thumbnail onto the map location that you have pinpointed.

  6. Step 6

When you drop the photo onto the map, it will automatically become geotagged with that location. The location will appear on the map, with a small white box around it. An arrow will connect it to the correct spot on the map.
