There are multiple reasons why the font displayed on any given web page would need to be changed in a Firefox browser. Some web page creators use small font, and some web page readers need a larger font to be able to read it. In some cases, the font is too large to fit in one frame of the reader’s browser space, so an adjustment to a smaller font would be helpful. Regardless of the reason why, there are ways to alter the web page font size in a Firefox browser temporarily or permanently. These methods are easy to use and easy to change as needed.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Adjust the size of any particular web page temporarily by clicking on “Ctrl” and “+” or “Ctrl” and “-” to incrementally increase or decrease the font size. These changes take place instantaneously.

  2. Step 2

Adjust the minimum viewing size of web fonts permanently. Do this by opening your Firefox browser. Click on “Tools” and then “Options”.

  3. Step 3

Click on the “Content” button. Change the font style and size settings to something more comfortable for your viewing. This will be the minimum size font Firefox will display. Sites with smaller fonts will be adjusted to the larger size in your browser window. Once you have made your changes, click on “OK”.

  4. Step 4

Refresh your view of the web page. If you are not happy with the changes, repeat the size alteration steps as needed until you find the settings that are desired.

Tips & Warnings
  • “Times New Roman” and “Arial” are easy fonts to read. Size “16” font is a good starting point for larger font size adjustments.
  • There is a free Firefox add-on called NoSquint by Jason Tackaberry that adjusts the font size on websites and remembers the settings of each website page for the user. This add-on standardizes the font size across all the pages the user views unless otherwise set. Once installed, the add-on automatically adjusts the font to a larger size–no adjustments are necessary unless you are desire different results.
  • Altering the font size of some websites may create display problems with other features of the page.
