Check out eBay and StubHub. Keep in mind you will pay a premium. StubHub is a bit more secure, because it's a sanctioned site so you know you are getting tickets from season ticket-holders. This option is best for those who are a little more impatient and not willing to risk making a trip without tickets in hand.

Shop around. See what different scalpers are offering. Look for the best deals. It's a lot like shopping for a car. You wouldn't buy a car at your first stop. It truly pays to look around.

Negotiate. Again, it's much like haggling for a car. A scalper at the ballpark might be selling a ticket for $110. The haggler might offer $50. The result: a compromise at $60. It's still $45 above face value, so the scalper still made a profit. Don't feel like you have to go with the first offer. You'll get it for cheaper.

Find the best deals after the game has started. Once the game has started, scalpers can't sell the ticket at a premium. At that point, they'll take just about anything. The danger is you may not be able to get a ticket after the game has started. However, if scalpers are still around after the game you'll often be able to get a ticket below face value.
