Instructions

    • 1

Make sure you have the cup, washcloth, shampoo and conditioner within easy reach to avoid leaving your child alone in the tub while you search for supplies.

    • 2

Close the windows and skylights to avoid any drafts. Children get chilled easily, so make sure you're closing off any drafts prior to starting the bath.

    • 3

Wait until the end of the bath for maximum comfort. Wet hair can lead to a chilly head, so wait until your child is fully bathed before wetting his hair.

    • 4

Have your child lie on her back to wet her hair. If your child is very young, then lie her back by supporting the child's head in your cupped hand and relaxing it slowly backward. If your child balks at lying down, consider having her tilt her head back and pouring water on her head from a cup. You can prevent drips from moving down her forehead into their eyes by using the washcloth on her forehead.

Sit your child up, apply shampoo and repeat the wetting hair procedure in Step 4 to rinse the shampoo. Repeat again for conditioner.

Tips & Warnings

  • Remember to use shampoo formulated for children's hair as it's typically gentler than adult shampoos and tear-free to prevent hurting their eyes.
