How to Prepare Beeswax to Clean Antique Furniture
You probably purchase and use furniture oils and polishes for dusting and cleaning your wooden and antique furniture. Oils may make your wooden furniture shine and spray furniture polishes may smell pleasant and remove the dust, as well as making your wooden furniture shine, but after a period of time the dust will recollect and adheres to the oils and polishes. There is another treatment that will not only clean and protect your wooden furniture, but will add a glow to the wood. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Stick of beeswax (can use already prepared beeswax)
- Turpentine
- Soft cloth

Take a stick of beeswax and put it in a pan of water according to the directions on the package.

Heat the beeswax and water on the stove on medium only until the beeswax melts.

Add six caps of turpentine to the melted beeswax and stir.

Dipping the edge of your cloth into the beeswax-turpentine mixture, rub it over the surfaces of your wooden furniture.

You will find that your furniture has a nice glow to it and that there will not be any oily residue left behind. This mixture helps protect the wood and keeps it from drying out as well. Repeat this once or twice a month when cleaning.

You will probably only be able to find beeswax at a hardware or specialty store. Otherwise you may have to purchase it online.
