Having a private phone number is a nice convenience, but it can be problematic, too--like when you're trying to get through to a number that rejects calls from private lines. Follow the simple directions below to make your number public for just one phone call at a time.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Pick up your phone. Once you get a dial tone, dial *82.

  2. Step 2

You will hear a series of beeps. After the beeps, dial the number you need to call.

  3. Step 3

Entering *82 will remove the "private" designation from your phone line for only one call at a time. This way, you can keep your number permanently blocked unless you decide to allow a call to go through.

  4. Step 4

Whether you're calling from a cell phone or a home phone, as long as you use *82, you should be able to get through to any phone that has blocked private calls.
