Spa gift baskets make excellent gifts, but many times are extremely expensive if you buy them already made. With a little patience, you can create the perfect spa gift basket with a lot less cash than you may think.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Pick a theme for your basket. You could focus on a body part, such as hands and feet. Many choose to use scents as the theme, or a particular part of the spa experience, such as facials or luxurious baths.

  2. Step 2

Search for the perfect basket. Thrift stores, antique stores, consignment shops, craft shops and even the dollar store have tons of good deals at good prices. While baskets are traditionally wicker, a plastic basket will stand up to the humid conditions present in a bathroom, creating a gift that will last long after its contents are gone.

  3. Step 3

Choose your products. You may want to buy one or two bottles of high-end bath products from a store such as Bath & Body Works or Lush Cosmetics. Many times you can get smaller sizes for a better price. Scour department discount stores such as Marshall's. The clearance section of stores like Target, Michael's Crafts can yield good results as well. Some dollar stores carry name brand products. You'd be surprised what you can find and where. Try to keep to your theme, matching scent, body part, or experience.

  4. Step 4

Throw in some goodies to go along with the products. For a pedicure set, you can add nail clippers, foot massager and more. For a men's set, throw in a fancy shaving kit or grooming set.

  5. Step 5

Arrange the products in your basket. You might want to put a piece of foam or cardboard underneath to prop everything up to be seen when you give it. Write a note or make a card and place it in the basket.

  6. Step 6

Wrap it up. You can buy shrinkwrap for gift baskets from most craft stores. Use a hair dryer to shrink to fit your basket.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you have trouble with a theme, go online and look at some gift sets to see how their themes are.
  • For facials, include a terry cloth headband to keep from getting in hair when using
  • Robes and towels are typical gifts. Try a bath pillow, or tray.
  • Make sure the person you are creating the basket for doesn't have any allergies. Sometimes products may have strong odors that can make someone sneeze or break out.
